“I raised my family here and built my business here. I will work to keep Plano the best place to live.”

Plano is a community undergoing relentless change. It’s a successful community, but one facing significant challenges. A 25-year Plano resident, Maria understands the issues we’re facing in and out, and has workable solutions that can help us build on our successes, overcome our challenges, and keep Plano the greatest place to live. Here’s what Maria wants to accomplish on the city council:

ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY AND REDUCE CRIME

Plano was named one of the top 10 safest cities in America by Law Street Media—but Plano’s safety is due to vigilance in fighting crime. As a former prosecutor in the county DA’s office, Maria is uniquely experienced in fighting crime—she understands the importance of protecting our families from violent criminals and drug traffickers. Keeping our children and families safe is a top priority for her.

PROTECT THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

Maria has seen the dramatic increase of traffic in Plano and has seen how that can damage our quality of life. Maria will work to protect the suburban atmosphere Plano residents moved here for. Maria will also work tirelessly to ensure that the quality of life in our neighborhoods is maintained as Plano grows.

KEEP OUR SCHOOLS GREAT

According to Dallas Morning News, Plano has the first-, third-, and eighth-best ranked schools in DFW. Our schools’ graduation rate is close to 98%. Yet Maria knows we can’t take that excellence for granted. She believes our success means we must work that much harder to stay on top.

Maria fully opposes the broken Robin Hood school finance system and its redistribution of our local property tax dollars across the state. She stands for keeping more of our tax dollars in our own classrooms!

Plano's outstanding schools are a shining example to the rest of the nation. Maria knows that maintaining a dedication to education excellence is the only way to ensure that our children will become productive and effective members of our community. As our City Council member, Maria will fully support our local public schools, libraries, and facilities through meaningful partnerships that enhance the learning experience for our parents and students.

CREATE BETTER JOBS FOR PLANO FAMILIES

As a successful entrepreneur, Maria knows that fiscal responsibility, great infrastructure, excellent schools, and safe neighborhoods are what will continue to attract businesses to Plano. She will work closely with other city leaders to keep bringing great jobs to Plano families in the future.

REDUCE TRAFFIC CONGESTION

Maria is just as frustrated with Plano traffic as you are—especially the traffic congestion generated by commuters just “passing through” Plano. She will work to improve our city infrastructure (especially the outdated roads in the older parts of town) and get Plano moving again.

KEEP PROPERTY TAXES LOW

Maria is well aware of how high property taxes harm families. In Plano, we’re fortunate to have one of the lowest tax rates in the Dallas area and Maria is committed to keeping our property taxes low.
